Xena

Xena’s life changed in an instant when neighboring dogs pulled her leg through a fence and attacked her, leaving her with severe wounds, an exposed bone and a ruptured tendon.

Her veterinary team initially tried to save the leg with surgery, bandaging, antibiotics and pain management. Unfortunately, the damage was too extensive, and amputation became the best option to get this young dog healthy and pain-free again.

Xena is also a 4-H dog, helping a young girl learn, grow and build a strong bond with animals. Her family had already raised hundreds of dollars toward her care, but the cost of another surgery was more than they could manage.

With help from the Care Beyond Limits Fund and the team at Mountain View Veterinary Hospital, Xena was able to get the surgery she needed and a good prognosis for what comes next.

Three legs? Xena’s got this.
