Little Bit

In December, our Portland teams rallied around a one-year-old pup named Little Bit, and the outcome still gives us chills.

Little Bit’s pet parent reached out to The Street Dog Coalition team after he’d been vomiting and refusing food for days. She knew something was wrong. Imaging confirmed it – a chunk of a rubber ball was blocking his small intestine.

Surgery happened fast. Mt. Scott Animal Clinic performed an abdominal exploratory and enterotomy, and Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral provided overnight care. By the next day, Little Bit was eating and on the mend.

Without the Street Dog Coalition, Care Beyond Limits – Lakefield’s new charity fund – and our community partners like the American Veterinary Medical Foundation, this surgery would have cost more than $3,500. Instead, it cost the pet parent $0.

This is why we do the work. Your support saves lives on both ends of the leash.
