Bagheera’s owner had planned to have her spayed, but before that could happen, she discovered the tiny 6-pound dog was unexpectedly pregnant. 

When Bagheera went into labor, her owner quickly realized something wasn’t right. After three hours without delivering a puppy, she contacted Loving Care Pet Hospital and brought Bagheera in right away. 

X-rays revealed one very big problem: Bagheera was carrying a single puppy that was simply too large for her to deliver safely. An emergency C-section was needed. Her owner contributed what she could toward the surgery, but after being declined for additional financing, the Care Beyond Limits Fund stepped in to help cover the remaining cost. 

Bagheera underwent an emergency C-section and spay, and surgery went smoothly. Mom recovered well, and her 10-ounce baby boy made his debut too. The veterinary team gave the not-so-little guy a very appropriate nickname: Goliath. 🐶 Both Bagheera and Goliath were able to head home that night.
